Item Conocimientos creencias, actitudes y prácticas sexuales vinculadas con el VIH/SIDA, en Uyuntza, Morona Santiago 2017(2018) Nagua Uyaguari, Sandra Paola; Angulo Rosero, Aydee Narcisa; Jiménez Brito, Doriz AngélicaBACKGROUND: According to UNAIDS statistics and the projections of the international organization on the increase of HIV / AIDS, estimated that in Ecuador more than 29,000 people who were HIV carriers at the end of 2015 and between 1000 and 3000 died of AIDS. (1) OBJECTIVE: To analyze the knowledge, beliefs, attitudes and sexual practices related to HIV / AIDS, in the Uyuntza Community. Morona Santiago 2017. METHODOLOGY: Phenomenological qualitative study the study population was the members of the Uyuntza Juaruar community, the sample was chosen 7 mixed participants between 18 and 50 years of age, men and women with active sexual life, a focus group was carried out applying a semi-structured survey, the data was recorded, transcribed in Word and then processed in the Atlas-Ti software. RESULTS The age of initiation of sexual relations is early, thirteen years. Poverty, low economic and academic level in the community are limiting to acquire knowledge. The source from which information is acquired is the talks in the Health sub-centers, which, according to the residents, are insufficient in terms of time and quality. Prostitution is a permanent source of possible HIV / AIDS infection. The men in the study have more "more than forty" sexual partners. Women do not use condoms in their sexual relationships and feel more vulnerable due to possible infidelities of their partnersItem Conocimientos y prácticas sexuales asociados al VIH/SIDA en la comunidad Shuar de Uyuntza- Morona Santiago(2019) Nagua Uyaguari, Sandra Paola; Jiménez Brito, Doriz Angélica; Chasillacta Amores, Fabiola BeatrizIntroduction: in Uyuntza, a Shuar indigenous community of Morona Santiago, there is a high risk of acquiring sexually transmitted diseases and HIV / AIDS due to the scarce knowledge on this subject. Objective: to characterize the sexual knowledge and practices related to HIV / AIDS, in the UyuntzaMorona Santiago 2018 Community. Methods: a focus group, the qualitative methodology was applied, the sample was selected for convenience: three men and three women between 22 and 42 years, with active sexual life and not diagnosed with HIV / AIDS. Results: the main source of information is the talks in the health sub-centers. Knowledge is limited, there is confusion between the concepts HIV and AIDS. Women limit themselves to expressing their knowledge and opinions. The risky sexual practices are frequent in the male group, among these are: the early onset of sexual relations, frequenting brothels, promiscuity, infidelity and the scarce use of condoms. Conclusion: both men and women in this study, have little knowledge about HIV / AIDS which leaves them as a community with high risk of infection and have the group predisposition to be educated on the subject to avoid "this terrible disease
