This paper studies the influence of television on school performance and nutritional status of children in the school Manuel Muñoz Cave Cuenca. In 77 children, aged; 7 and 12 years, were studied variables; old TV time, programming type, influence of children, family roles, family socioeconomic status, nutritional status and school performance. Objective: To determine the presence and manifestations of nomophobia in medical students at the University of Cuenca 2024. Methods: A quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out. The study population was the tenth cycle students to whom the Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q) was applied, with a sample of 86 students. The data will be transcribed into a Microsoft Excel 2019 spreadsheet and processed in the SPSS v.26 statistical software. Descriptive statistics are presented in tables. Results: All students presented nomophobia; The most frequent level of nomophobia was moderate with 68.6% and the average nomophobia score obtained in the sample was 67.48 points (95% CI: 63.72–71.23). Of the total students, 58.1% are women, 73.3% are between 22 and 25 years old (M=24.6; SD=1.67 years), 81.4% are single and 76.7% reside in urban areas. Conclusions: Among medical students of the tenth cycle of Medicine at the University of Cuenca, a higher frequency of a moderate level of nomophobia was found, the majority are between 22 and 25 years old, predominately female, single, and residents of urban areas.Item Patrones alimenticios de la población del cantón "El Tambo", 2016(2017) Quezada Miranda, Edgar Lizandro; Rivera Robles, César Eduardo; Achig Balarezo, David Ricardo; Mosquera Vallejo, Lorena ElizabethBackground. - Ecuador is a country where there are different cultures, traditions, which can be modified over time. The canton "El Tambo" located in the province of Cañar is a clear example of this as it is recognized for its history and cultural richness. The present investigation was carried out to determine the food patterns in Tambo. Related studies have been conducted in the country, but none in this canton. Objective. - Identify the food patterns of the inhabitants of "El Tambo". Methodology. - A quantitative, cross-sectional descriptive study was used. The sample was calculated with a heterogeneity of 50%, a margin of error of 8% and a confidence level of 95%, obtaining a total of 150 heads of households, the same ones that were Drawn through the EPI DAT version 3.1 program with the selection of the sampling command, data were of the area. Conclusion. - The food patterns of El Tambo show that there is a high consumption of carbohydrates, less consumption of proteins, vegetables, fruits and, fats. collected through the Food Consumption Frequency Survey and 24-hour Reminder. SPSS and Microsoft Excel were used to create a database for tabulation. Results. - 81.3% of heads of families were female, 36.7% were between 45 and 64 years of age. 69.4% ingest more than 1500 kcal per day. 76.0% of consumption corresponds to potato, rice (64.7%) and maize (32.7%). MATERIALS AND METHODS: We performed a cross-sectional study. The universe was 1373 students enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine, Catholic University of Cuenca. The sample consisted of 195 students was obtained by simple random sampling and calculation based on the 95 % confidence. Test of Hamilton and socio demographic form was used for data collection. The information collected was analyzed in the program SPSS statistical measures as frequencies, percentages, OR, 95% CI and p value < 0.05 was used. RESULTS: A total of 195 students were included in this review, mean age 21 ± 3 years; Women were 59%, and 41% men. In types / levels of depression mild depression predominance with a percentage 33.8% (CI 95% 0,27- 040). The association between depression and sex provided a OR 0.378, 95% CI 0,209- 0.684 and p = 0.001, with the other factors was no statistical significance. Methods: This research is an observational, cross-sectional and analytical study. The chosen location was the home of the children under 5 years old of the parish of San Joaquin, who reside in this community in 2013, for which was taken as an approximate number of 805 children under 5 years old and their families, as Universe, from the last census (2010). The sample size was calculated using the EpiDat program, taking into account the prevalence of 35.83% of undernutrition in the parish, we obtained as a result a total of 250 children under 5 years old with 95% confidence, we made an cluster sample using the sectoral division of INEC. The instrument used was a validated form, electronic scales and stadiometer. Results: 61% of food-insecure homes, 34% of children under 5 years old have chronic malnutrition; poverty by unsatisfied basic needs (PUBN) is 70%. Conclusions: There was a direct relationship, where there are almost 2 times more probabilities that a child of 5 years old with a family with UBN poverty suffer from food insecurity, 2 times more probabilities that a child under 5 years old with a family with food insecurity suffer from chronic malnutrition and 3 times more probabilities that a child under 5 years old with a family with UBN poverty suffer malnutrition.
