Item Evaluación del efecto de incendios forestales históricos sobre propiedades del suelo en el bosque protector Tambillo(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-09-25) Tenelema Ojeda, Martha Verónica; Morocho Morocho, Diego Orlando; Borja Ramón, Pablo MarceloIn Ecuador, the montane cloud forest is one of the most important due to its diversity of native and endemic flora. However, in recent years, it has been affected by multiple fires in different locations, yet there are no studies regarding the effects of fires on soil properties and their relationship with floristic richness and diversity. This research evaluated the effect of forest fires on the physical and chemical properties of the soil, as well as the indices of floristic richness and diversity in the Tambillo Community Protected Area. Three specific objectives were proposed: to determine the physical and chemical properties of the soil, to characterize the vegetation covers, and to establish differences in soil properties and floristic richness in three treatments: T1 (degraded area), T2 (transition area), and T3 (non-degraded area). A completely randomized design was used with 400 m2 plots as experimental units with 5 replications. The results showed significant differences (p < 0.05) in variables such as Bulk Density, Porosity, Structure, pH, and Potassium. The Shannon and Margalef indices also showed significant differences, reflecting variability in species diversity and richness between the treatments. T1 presented 23 genera in 12 families, T2 had 45 genera in 22 families, and T3 recorded 37 genera in 27 families. In conclusion, the differences found in our study indicate that the fires have had a negative impact on the regeneration and plant diversity of the area, and that despite the time elapsed, the soil properties have not fully recovered. This affects the development of vegetation cover and floristic richness in the Tambillo Community Protected Area.
