    Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre las normas de bioseguridad en el manejo y administración de sangre y hemoderivados por el personal de enfermería en el departamento de pediatría del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso . Cuenca, 2014

    General Objective: Determine the level of knowledge, attitudes and practices on biosafety standards in the management and administration of blood and blood products of nursing personnel in the Department of Pediatrics of the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Cuenca, 2014. Methodology: quantitative research was conducted, descriptive and cross-sectional study. This study consists of 86 people, including nurses, nursing assistants and internal, surgery services, clinic, emergency, six did not participate in the investigation. Results: knowledge was compared with daily practice; in the use of mask, eye protection and gown get a 21.21% of nurses available, 11.76% from 16.67% internal and auxiliary they know. And as for the use of sterile gloves 21.21% of nurses, 17.65% internal and 13.33% auxiliary know. However on direct observation 100% of staff do not use it and only 7.14% of nurses wear sterile gloves. On the proper technique of washing hands a 69.70% of nurses, a 70.59% internal and 80% of assistants known. However in practice, it appears that 37.04% of nurses, 58.33% internal and 40% auxiliary done. Regarding the process for transfusing blood products there is very high percentages in both knowledge and practice with more than 90% of staff, providing safe care to the patient who receives it. Conclusions: The procedure for blood transfusion most of the personnel is trained, but in the personal protective measures knowledge deficit exists which is reflected in practice exposing themselves to risks of contamination.
