Item Inteligencia emocional y depresión en estudiantes de Psicología Clínica de la Universidad de Cuenca en el transcurso de la pandemia COVID-19 durante el periodo 2021(Universidad de Cuenca, 2021-12-08) Montesdeoca Andrade, Mateo Sebastián; Nieto Jarrín, María Fernanda; Ávila Larrea, Javier AlejandroEmotional intelligence (EI) is a necessary skill for the development of the human being, it provides tools for the adaptation of individuals to the changing events that they go through, however, socio-emotional education has not been adequately worked in the educational field and, during these events due to the pandemic, the affect on emotions in students is undeniable, as they have to change their daily dynamics due to the crisis caused by COVID- 19. The general objective of the research work is to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and depression, in students of the Clinical Psychology career of the University of Cuenca, Ecuador in the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to describing the dimensions of IE and the severity of depressive symptoms among students who suffered from covid-19 and those who did not. The study follows a non-experimental, cross-sectional and descriptive-correlational quantitative approach. We worked with a sample of 51 students calculated statistically, which was obtained from the research project of external funds described in the methodology section. The instruments used were the WLEIS-S for emotional intelligence and the Beck depression inventory version II and a sociodemographic record. The results were that emotional intelligence and depression have a negative correlation, that is, the higher EI, the lower the depressive symptomatological severity, in addition to knowing that the evaluation of one's own emotions is the most developed dimension and, by the On the contrary, emotional regulation is the least developed.
