Rol de los docentes en la inclusión educativa
(2013) Montenegro Palacios, Rosa del Pilar; Tigre Cuenca, Mónica Alva; Pesántez Palacios, María Dolores
This work focuses on the “Teachers’ Role in Educational Inclusion” because the teacher plays a fundamental function in education, becoming the facilitator and mediator between the student and the teaching-learning process. For this reason, it has been considered convenient to start from a brief account of the background and the legal framework of educational inclusion and its characteristics. Then the role, values, and competences that the teacher must acquire and implement in his pedagogical performance are emphasized, along with the necessity of permanent and continuous training since the teacher must respond to the needs, interests, and individualities of his/her students. Finally, some methodological strategies are tackled, such as the development of some curricular adaptations and the provision of material resources, personal help, and external support to inclusion, among others. It is hoped that these strategies will constitute great support for teachers to create a better-quality inclusion process.
