    Frecuencia de hiperplasia prostática benigna, tratamiento quirúrgico y farmacológico en pacientes del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso en el año 2016

    Backgound: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is frequent in the urological area, affecting the quality of life of people producing signs and symptoms by a progressive obstruction of the urinary flow. Objetive: determine the frequency, sociodemographic characteristics and kind of treatment used in patients diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia in the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso in 2016. Methodology: retrospective descriptive study. Data collection was carried out in 563 medical records of patients with diagnosis and treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia in the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital. The information was collected in a form made by the authors, processing the data using the SPSS program, making tables and graphs. Results: the average age of the population was of # 8 years with a standard deviation of 8 years; the frequency of diagnosis of BPH was 1% of the patients who attended the urology outpatient clinic; the frequency of pharmacological treatment was 1% and surgical treatment was 1%. Conclussions: the frequency of diagnosis of BPH was high, the most affected patients were older men, the mixed symptoms predominated and the priority treatment was the pharmacological one with alpha blockers.
