Hospital José carrasco Arteaga, 2020(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-12-10) Verdesoto Bravo, Daniela Alejandra; Molineros Calle, Pedro Luis; Ñauta Baculima, Manuel JaimeIntroduction: currently, premalignant and malignant cervical lesions are considered a public health problem, due to their high morbidity and mortality in the female population due to their natural evolution, leading to cervical cancer (CUC) if it is not detected early. It is a current problem in our country due to its detection in late ages. The CCU ranks fourth in female neoplasms worldwide. The colposcopy is a procedure in the lower female genital tract that allows diagnosing these lesions with the possibility of timely treatment. Objective: To identify premalignant and malignant cervical lesions through colposcopy at the Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, period 2019. Methodology: It is an observational, retrospective and descriptive study. The sample consisted of women with an anormal vaginal cytology report (PAP- test) who underwent a colposcopy. For data collection, the retrospective information of the patients was consulted and prepared forms were used. The data were systematized in tables of the EXCEL 2016 system and were subsequently analyzed using the statistical software package IBM SPSS Statics 24.0. Finally the results were presented in simple and double-entry tables. Results: the average of the 364 patients was 50 years (32.4%), the LIEBG lesion was 43%, the quality of the colposcopy sample that is satisfactory is 72.8%, the presence of NIC I is presented in 16.8% of the patients. Regarding the analysis of abnormal PAP tests that were corroborated with colposcopy, it was evidenced that 63% presented benign histopathological lesions. Conclusions: colposcopy as a diagnostic method for premalignant and malignant neck pathology, it is totally useful.
