    Factores de riesgo asociados al consumo de alcohol en los estudiantes de la Carrera de Enfermería de la Universidad de Cuenca, 2014

    GENERAL OBJECTIVE: determine the risk factors associated with the consumption of alcohol in the students of nursing at the University of Cuenca 2014. MATERIAL AND METHODS: it is an analytical cross-sectional study that took place in the school of nursing of the University of Cuenca. Formed the universe 950 students working with a sample of 200 students, between men and women. Was used for the collection of data the Test for identification of the disorders due to the consumption of Alcohol (AUDIT) a survey was also used to detect the frequency and intensity of the consumption of alcoholic beverages, in those students who resorted to drinking alcohol in the last year, socio-demographic to determine risk factors associated with the consumption of alcohol. RESULTS : most outstanding data of the 200 students were: 92% are women and 8% are men; 80% belong to the ages of 18-23; 83 per cent are singles; 79.5% belong to the urban area, 20.5% are rural; Catholic 92.5%. As for the frequency of alcohol consumption, this is 70.5%; According to the test a 94.5% corresponds to consumption without risk and 5% consumption at risk. CONCLUSIONS: as identified risk factors: age range 18 to > 25, unmarried students, urban residence and Catholic religion. The frequency of alcohol consumption in the career of nursing young was 70.5% once a month and a 3.5% from two to four times a week.
