Item Prevalencia y factores de riesgo del parto pretérmino en pacientes atendidas en el departamento de obstetricia del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, en el periodo comprendido entre el 1 d enero del 2010 al 31 de diciembre del 2014(2016) Balladares Tapia, Fabián Patricio; Chacón Jarama, Valeria de los Ángeles; Abril Matute, Cumandá Patricia; Mejía chicaiza, Jorge VictorianoBACKGROUND: Preterm birth is a frequent public health problem. According to the World’s Health Organization, it occurs in 5-10% of pregnancies, (1) bringing along high morbidity indexes, children suffering some type of long-term disability, and maternal and fetal mortality, especially in children under 1000g, whose mortality reaches up to 90%. (2) OBJECTIVE: To determine preterm birth prevalence and risk factors of patients attended in the Gynecology and Obstetrician area of Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso during the period between 2010 and 2014. METHODS: This was a descriptive and retrospective study. There were 301 cases were preterm birth cases in the Gynecology and Obstetrician area of Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, during January 1, 2010 until December 31, 2014. The data were collected using a form, and the analysis was made using Excel 2010 and SPSS 20. RESULTS: 301 cases were obtained, 38, 5% of those cases were from women of ages 21 to 28 years. Moderate to late premature births were the most frequent, 67, 4% of cases. Regarding the risk factors studied, 33, 2% of patients had anemia, 39, 5% had urinary tract infection and 12, 6% had bacterial vaginosis during their pregnancy.
