The scientific production on the effectiveness of polyethylene fibers in endodontically treated teeth is described, which was published in the literature of the PubMed and Google Scholar databases, through a non-systematic bibliographic review between 2016 - 2023. Twenty-six full-text articles were included. 59% of the articles showed superior results of polyethylene FRC, while 27.3% showed no differences between polyethylene FRC and glass FRC and only 6.9% showed that glass FRC have better characteristics than glass FRC polyethylene. It is concluded that the use of polyethylene fibers can improve the resistance of endodontically treated teeth, rehabilitated with direct composite restorations, as well as improve their resistance to fracture and force dispersion; However, since there is not enough scientific information, it is crucial to continue evaluating them to determine their real effectiveness.
