    Prevalencia de la cyber adicción en las/los adolescentes del Colegio Carlos Cueva Tamariz de la ciudad de Cuenca, 2013

    Background: In recent years globalization and advances in communication technology and information have conditioned an unprecedented advance in our society, however these technologies influence the development of associated diseases, especially the use of internet, the study addictions to these young people possess technologies vital. Objective: To determine the prevalence of cyber addiction in teens of Carlos Cueva Tamariz high school of Cuenca City 2013 Methodology : This was a prevalence study in a population of 261 high school students from Colegio Carlos Cueva Tamariz Cuenca City , for data collection was used a form with demographic and Internet accessibility; for addiction screening test validated for the presentation of the results were used frequency tables and for the statistical association : prevalence ratio (PR), the p value with 95 % of confidence. Results: The prevalence of cyber addiction was 2.3% while 37.5 % of the population presented with risk of addiction, and the mean age was 16.72 years with a standard deviation of 1.07 years; sex most prevalent in the study was female with 51.3 %, 77.8 % of the population has internet at home and 45.3 % of the population has access through a telephone line , the site where more students are connected is in the house , and the main reason is to connect research with 63.6 %. No statistically significant association was found between age, sex, the internet connection with cyber addiction (p > 0.05) Conclusions : The new technology determine new internet addiction being one of the most addictive factors in our population the prevalence of addiction was 2.3 % representing not yet a serious problem.
