Item Hábitos, actitudes y conocimientos sobre fotoprotección para la prevención del cáncer de piel en Agentes Civiles de Tránsito de la ciudad de Cuenca - Ecuador, 2024(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-03-14) Castro Moscoso, Tifany Adriana; Masache Pulla, Adriana Carolina; Ordóñez Chacha, Pablo RobertoSkin cancer is one of the most common neoplasms; it is estimated that one out of every three cancers diagnosed affects this organ and its incidence is increasing year after year. Moreover, it is considered that the main risk factor for developing this type of cancer is exposure to ultraviolet rays of solar radiation (1). The objective of this study was to determine the habits, attitudes and knowledge about photoprotection for the prevention of skin cancer in Civilian Traffic Agents of the city of Cuenca - Ecuador, 2024. A cross-sectional descriptive research was carried out. The universe consisted of 330 Civilian Traffic Agents of the EMOV-EP who worked during the period February-March 2024. Of the universe, 253 agents agreed to participate in the study, of which 36 were excluded; the final sample was 217 agents. The adult version of the CHACES questionnaire was administered. Subsequently, using Microsoft Excel and SPSS v21.0 programs, the information obtained was computed, processed and analyzed. A descriptive statistical analysis was performed using absolute and relative frequencies (percentages), measures of central tendency (mean) and dispersion. The results showed a wide exposure to ultraviolet radiation by the participants, indicating a higher risk of developing skin neoplasms, however, they regularly used certain photoprotection measures, although others should be more widespread. In general, they had good sun-related attitudes and their level of knowledge was acceptable.
