Comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) in rural schools has been scarcely documented and even less in our context. In this context, one of the most pressing problems is the large number of teachers from rural schools who are uninformed or have insufficient knowledge to deal with issues related to child sexuality. With the goal of a better understanding of the CSE implementation in rural schools, the present study was carried out. The research focused on analyzing the knowledge about CSE that teachers from rural schools have. A quantitative approach was used and a questionnaire was applied to a sample of 160 teachers. The results obtained reveal the urgent need to improve the access to a CSE sexual education in rural schools. The findings show that teachers have knowledge about CSE, but from a biological approach, and they also consider important to provide sexuality education at school. Likewise, most teachers acknowledge that they address CSE within their classrooms. Finally, the most used strategies to teach CSE are videos and teacher talks. Therefore, it is concluded that although teachers have knowledge about sexuality education, it is narrow and superficial, suggesting the need for more training on the subject
