Comprehensive care for women during the perinatal period is an essential aspect in thepractice of obstetric nursing. The nurse professional plays an important role in creating a safeand calm environment for the woman and her family, providing accurate information, reassurance, and ongoing emotional support, including words of encouragement and creatingan appropriate environment for events such as childbirth. This accompaniment helps to reducestress and promotes a positive experience for both mother and newborn. The objective of thisstudy was to analyze the perceptions of women in the perinatal period about the emotionalsupport received from the nursing staff at the "Carlos Elizalde" health center. The researchadopted a qualitative phenomenological approach, with a sample of seven mothers, throughsemi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed using ATLAS.ti, through predeterminedcategories, and represented in semantic networks. Both positive and negative perceptions ofemotional support were identified, which varied according to the stages of the perinatal period. The results show that emotional support is essential for women's well-being during this period. However, significant limitations were also evident, such as work overload, lack of time andresources, and the loss of humanization in care, factors that can affect the quality andeffectiveness of the emotional support provided.
