Análisis del proceso de biosorción de cobre presente en efluentes líquidos utilizando bagazo de caña de azúcar y cascara de cacao
(2017) Machado Alvarez, Sandra Ximena; Vanegas Peña, María Eulalia
This research analyzes the biosorption capacity of copper in aqueous solutions, using sugar cane bagasse and cocoa shell. In the first place, a physical-chemical characterization of these biosorbents were carried out, to carry out different studies of relevant parameters, such as pH function, initial concentration of metal, biomass dose, contact time and temperature. The results indicate that the cocoa shell has a higher affinity with the Cu (II) ions so its removal percentage is higher than the sugarcane bagasse, which is 94%. When evaluating the pH parameter, a maximum process efficiency at pH = 4 is obtained. In addition, when examining the concentration of metal ions in solution, a higher percentage of removal is identified if a concentration of Cu (II) is used at 25 mg/L. In the same way, the percentage of removal is increased if the dose of the biosorbent is increased, for this work was established as the best 10 g/L cocoa shell. The kinetic study revealed that the biosorption process is fast in the first 60 minutes, so it is determined as the adsorption equilibrium time. The kinetic model that best fits the experimental data is the Second Order Pseudo and in as for the equilibrium study, these represented by the Langmuir isotherm, which establishes a maximum sorption capacity of 33.44 mg / g. With respect to the thermodynamic part, the temperature at which the highest percentage of Cu (II) removal is reached is at 30 °C, however, this parameter does not represent a greater influence.
