Item Prevalencia de Diabetes Mellitus tipo II y sus factores de riesgo en pacientes que acudieron al Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, Cuenca - 2018.(Universidad de Cuenca, 2019-12-04) Cordero Tapia, María Jessica; Macero Cevallos, Dania Mariuxi; Macero Méndez, Reina MaríaBACKGROUND: According to the World Health Organization (WHO) classifies diabetes mellitus as a chronic disease and is considered a public health problem due to the high mortality rates it induces, the prevalence of type II diabetes mellitus worldwide in 2014 was 8.5 %. The latency period of Diabetes mellitus is long, thus producing a preclinical stage, which can be unnoticed at first, being detected late. It will cause acute and chronic complications. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To know the prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus Type II and its risk factors in patients who were attended at the department of the Endocrinology area at “Vicente Corral Moscoso” Hospital in 2018. METHODOLOGY: The research method was observational, retrospective, cross-sectional, the research was carried out by collecting information from the Clinical Laboratory database and clinical records of patients diagnosed with type II diabetes mellitus. The data obtained were tabulated in SPSS. trial version for the statistical analysis, percentage tables were subsequently designed, with analysis of results, conclusions and recommendations. RESULTS: The prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus Type II in the endocrinology area of “Vicente Corral Moscoso” Hospital was 4.3% in 2018. The age range was 51 to 61 years.
