Methodology: Observational, ecological study, information collected from the Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos (INEC) database on mortality due to AMI, over 18 years of age, classified by sex and place of death. An analysis was made of mortality rates adjusted according to the WHO direct method, and temporal mortality trends were analyzed according to sex, provinces and regions. Results: There is a constant increase in the number of AMI cases, the peak of mortality observed between 2008, 2018, 2019 and 2021. Men accounted for more than 50% of cases. Provinces in the coastal region recorded the highest AMI mortality rate, the trend analysis showed a significant overall increase over the entire period, with two trends: a decrease between 2006-2011 and a considerable increase between 2011-2021. Conclusions: Provinces of the coast region and men showed sustained increases in the standardized mortality rate of AMI in Ecuador.
