In the Ecuadorian education system, public policies on inclusive education have been devised to address and respond to educational needs, with the aim of guaranteeing quality education and equality for all students. To do this, inclusive education must incorporate a process of teacher education and training. Hence, the objective of this research is to describe the deficiencies and potentialities in the process of initial training in inclusive education of students of the Basic Education career, academic period March - August 2022. The specific objectives are: to analyze the perceptions of students in relation to the initial training in inclusive education and to characterize the Basic Education career plan from an inclusive approach. The study has a qualitative, descriptive approach and a phenomenological design. Semi-structured interviews were applied to 15 students, selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Semi-structured interviews and documentary analysis were used for data collection. Among the results it was found that the dimensions of cultures, policies and practices during the training of students in inclusive education are deficient, at the same time, the subjects and contents reviewed end up being deficient, due to the number of subjects related to inclusive education and the time spent in each one of them.
