    Evaluación del uso potencial del Kikuyo (Penisetum clandestinum) cultivado como vegetación en un humedal construido de flujo vertical en Cuenca Ecuador

    In the country, water pollution caused by human action is a problem for public health and the environment, so reliable, harmless and cost-effective methods are sought to purify wastewater. Studies have been carried out with artificial wetlands that help purify water and at the same time obtain a crop of grass for animal feed, carrying out this research in the pilot facilities located within the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) of Ucubamba, in Cuenca, in order to evaluate the development and nutritional contribution of Kikuyu (Penisetum clandestinum) used as vegetation in a constructed wetland, first stage modified French system treating raw domestic wastewater. Four samples of 1 m2 were taken at 15, 30, 45 and 60 days after the regrowth in the third pilot unit. A completely randomized experimental design was used, the variables to be measured were height, wet weight, dry weight, dry matter, fat, protein, fiber, carbohydrates and ash. The SPSS software program was used to process data. Based on the results obtained, the best cutting age is between 30 and 45 days, it has a higher protein content, and low fiber content, allowing easy digestibility to the animals that consume it.
