Item Insatisfacción corporal y conductas alimentarias de riesgo en bailarines de la ciudad de Cuenca, período 2024-2025(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-02-20) Loja Chumbi, Samantha Yadira; Palacios Madero, María DoloresBody image depends on various factors that can alter its perception as a consequence. Body dissatisfaction is understood as the magnitude of the difference between how physical appearance is perceived and the ideas, beliefs, and established standards, which can influence how the body is perceived, leading to a distorted or negative alteration of physical appearance. It has been reported that elevated levels of body dissatisfaction can lead individuals to engage in disordered eating behaviors, which may also develop into eating disorders, especially in the dance population. It is common for dancers to exhibit eating behavior disturbances, which may be related to the specific characteristics of the dance environment, leading to significant distress for the individual. The objective was to explore the level of body dissatisfaction and disordered eating behaviors in dancers from the city of Cuenca. This research employs a quantitative and descriptive approach. The BSQ test will be used to describe body image disturbances, and the EAT-26 test will evaluate attitudes anddisordered eating behaviors. The results showed moderate levels of body dissatisfaction in most dancers and a low risk of disordered eating behaviors. However, a moderate risk increase was observed in the emerging and early adulthood groups, linked to social and professional pressures. Additionally, women presented a significantly higher prevalence of disordered eating behaviors compared to men.
