Background: The delay in psychomotor development involves alterations in areas such as: language, post-motor acquisitions and social interaction skills, these alterations in development are considered relevant problems that have high impact for the family and society. Sometimes these disorders may be transient or may be a cause of disability, so the evaluation is a primary factor that will allow to assess medical behavior and family intervention. Objective: To determine the psychomotor development in children from 3 to 5 years of age, with the TEPSI Test, in the Educational Unit "Fray Gaspar de Carvajal", of the Sayausí Parish of the Cantón Cuenca, in the period May-October 2017. Methodology: The present study uses a descriptive design of cross section; the sample was made up of the whole universe, 170 boys and girls of the Educational Unit "Fray Gaspar de Carvajal", of the Sayausí Parish of the Cuenca Canton, between the ages between 3 and 5 years old. Result: The studied sample presented homogeneity in terms of gender, however, in age group 65% belonged to children aged between 4 years 6 months 1 day to 5 years. There was a delay in coordination, language and motor skills in 8%, 6.5% and 7.6% respectively. Of the sample evaluated, they are located in the risk category 27% in the coordination area, 18.2% in language and 12.9% in motor skills. Conclusions: Only statistically significant relationship was found between language and age, being these inversely proportional, meaning that the younger the child, the greater the risk of delay. The application of the Tepsi test showed that when relating the categories of normality, risk and delay for the evaluated sample, it is observed that there is a greater risk in the coordination and motor skills in the third age group (4-5 years) and the delay is made more evident at the language level.
