    Validación del instrumento de AIEPI que evalúa el desarrollo psicomotor en niños y niñas de 2 a 60 meses de edad que asisten a las instituciones infantiles del área urbana del cantón Cuenca. 2008-2009

    This quantitative study, transversal, developed within the project “Prevalencia de los trastornos del desarrollo con o sin discapacidad y los factores asociados en niños y niñas de 0 a 5 años de edad que asisten a las instituciones infantiles del área urbana del cantón cuenca. Universidad de Cuenca. Cuenca. 2008-2009.” Headed by Dr. Lourdes Huiracocha T. The main objective was: To compare the sensitivity and specificity of the AIEPI tool to diagnose abnormalities in psychomotor development, compared to Test Brunet Lezine and Nelson Ortiz. Methods: A sample of 432 children between 2-60 months of age attending 32 child care institutions urban area of the canton Cuenca and maintaining relationship with the University of Cuenca, 2008-2009; forms were applied previously tested. Results: AIEPI tool had a sensitivity of 79.2% (95% CI 60.8-95.5) and specificity was 94.6% (95% CI 92.3-96.9), compared with Nelson Ortiz test. When compared with the test Brunet Lezine in the age group of 2-30 months, had a sensitivity of 76.9% (95% CI 50.2-100) and specificity of 84.6% (95% CI 72.0-97.2). Finally, compared with Brunet Lezine test in the age group of 30.1-60 months, the sensitivity was 40.0% (95% CI 20.8-59.2) and specificity was 96.3% (95% CI 94.2-98.4). We believe that the instrument of AIEPI identifies healthy children better.
