Item Prevalencia de insuficiencia cardíaca en pacientes adultos, Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, 2013-2014.(2016) Lituma Orellana, Adriana Margarita; Delgado Gaete, Christian Mauricio; León Astudillo, Edgar José; Vintimilla Maldonado, Jaime RosendoGeneral objective Determine the prevalence of heart failure in patients from 40 years of age and over who consulted in the department of cardiology at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during January 2013 to January 2014. Material and methods It is a descriptive study on the population of 184 patients. Data were obtained from medical records and reports ecocardiographic, and analyzed with SPSS software version 15. Results The minimum age was 40 years, the maximum 94, and the median 73. 61.4% were women. 64.7% had a history of valvular heart disease, 54.3% of high blood pressure, arrhythmias 33.2%, 11.4% of DM2 and 7.6% of ischemic heart disease. The prevalence of left ventricular dysfunction (systolic, diastolic and global) was 67.4%; 95% CI 60.6 to 74.2; the ventricular systolic dysfunction 35.8% and diastolic dysfunction was 50%. The men accounted for 71.8% of ventricular dysfunction, women 64.6%; between 40-64 years of 59.3%, including 74.7% 65-79 and those over 79 years of 66.0%. Conclusions The prevalence of heart failure according to the echocardiographic report of patients treated in the cardiology department Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during 2013-2014 was over 50% regardless of sex and age group.
