Item Determinación de bacterias presentes en teléfonos móviles de estudiantes de Laboratorio Clínico Cuenca, Mayo - Octubre 2019(Universidad de Cuenca, 2020-01-30) Guzmán Ayala, Ana Paulina; Lituma Bravo, Dana Pamela; Bigoni Ordóñez, Gabriele DavideIn 2017, bacteria were observed on mobile phone screens, where Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus spp predominated. The mobile phone contact with our hands, near the mouth or food, is a source of transmission of pathogenic or benign bacteria (1). Becerra, through a study in the Multidisciplinary Clinic, observed the presence of Staphylococcus aureus in the cell phones of health personnel (2). GENERAL OBJECTIVE: Determine the bacteria present in mobile phones of the students of the Clinical Laboratory career of the University of Cuenca, May -October 2019. METHODOLOGY A descriptive, prospective study was conducted. The universe was made up of the mobile phones of the students of the Clinical Laboratory career of the University of Cuenca May – October 2019, with a universe and sample of 131 students. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS version 25 trial program. The identification of bacteria was performed by biochemical tests. RESULTS Of 131 cell phones analyzed, 36.0% Staphylococcus coagulase negative, 6.5% Staphylococcus aureus, 5% yeasts, 2.9% Enterobacter sp. and Burkholderia sp, 2.2% Sphingomona, and 1.4% Stenotrophomona, Acinetobacter spp and Bacillus sp. CONCLUSIONS Staphylococcus coagulase negative (36%) in greater proportion, Staphylococcus aureus (6.5%) and Enterobacter sp (2.9%) were found in the mobile phones of students in the Clinical Laboratory career. Yeasts were isolated on mobile phones from students attending the Mycology course due to improper handling and lack of aseptic rules.
