    Características clínico-epidemiológicas de pacientes diagnosticadas de cáncer de mama, Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, del 2014 al 2018

    Background: breast cancer is considered as a heterogeneous disease that needs an accurate and timely diagnosis. Incidence and mortality rates are increasing, making the design and implementation of screening programs and the control of risk factors essential throughout the world.General objective:to determine the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of patients diagnosed with breast cancerat the Hospital “José Carrasco Arteaga” from 2014 to 2018.Methodology:this is a descriptive, cross-sectional study. The universe was 308 clinical histories of patients treated for breast carcinoma in the Oncology Area of the Hospital “José Carrasco Arteaga”, the sample corresponds to the universe. Data was collected and tabulated in Excel version 2013 and analyzed in SPSS version 21. The results are presented in simple and double-entry tables.Results:the study population consisted of 308 patients in anage range of 25-93 years, the average age of diagnosis was 55.79 ± 12,619; a total of 42.2% of the population was overweight; the most common histological diagnosis was infiltrating ductal carcinoma with 82.1%; the most common was the luminal molecular subtype B with 49.4%; clinical stage IIA was the most frequent at the time of diagnosis with 36%; the mastectomy was the most widely used surgical approach with 53.2% of cases.Conclusions:the breast cancer occurs more frequently in the fifth decade of lifein early stages and with histology of infiltrating ductal carcinoma. The overweight patients are the main group of affected population and as a molecular profile, the luminal subtype B is the most frequently diagnosed.Keywords:Breast cancer, Triple negative carcinoma, Body mass index, Clinical stage.
