General Objective: To determine the frequency and characteristics related to CRUP in the pediatric emergency service of the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso of the city of Cuenca from 01 / January / 2010 to 31 / December / 2014. Methodology: The study was a descriptive cross-sectional retrospective, the population consisted of 488 pediatric patients diagnosed with Crup in the emergency area. Data collection was done using a form whose variables are based on those used in previous studies reviewed. For the analysis of the data we used the statistical software SPSS version 24 with license and descriptive statistics, the qualitative variables with frequencies and percentages; the quantitative variables with mean and standard deviation. Results: 28 011 pediatric emergency medical histories were reviewed. Of these, 488 met the inclusion criteria for Crup. The majority of cases were found to be at least 2 years old (76.64%), predominantly male (70.08 %), with the highest number of cases in 2011 and 2013 as well as in the October - December period (37.4%). Patients with a previous history of Croup or respiratory infection (1-3 days previously) showed a higher frequency of onset of the syndrome (75.4%) and a high index was observed, higher than reported, in patients with a family history of Croup (35 %). Conclusions: The annual percentage of Crup was 1.7%, being mostly mild (77.5%), predominating in patients of age equal or less than 2 years, male, with the highest number of cases between October and December, Predominating in those with previous antecedents of Crup or previous respiratory infections and with family antecedents
