    Insatisfacción corporal y ansiedad en estudiantes mujeres de la carrera de Nutrición y Dietética de la Universidad de Cuenca, Período 2024-2025

    Body image is defined as the mental representation that a person has of their own body, which can be influenced by various previous experiences, health conditions, and interpersonal relationships, and which tends to change over time. Body dissatisfaction, on the other hand, describes the discomfort or discontent that someone may experience regarding their physical appearance, reflected in feeling uncomfortable with their appearance, worrying excessively about their weight, body shape, or size, or having a distorted perception of their own body. Meanwhile, anxiety refers to both an emotional and physical response that arises when a person is faced with situations that they perceive as threatening, stressful, or unknown. This research describes body dissatisfaction and anxiety levels in female students of Nutrition and Dietetics career at Universidad de Cuenca, in 2024-2025. The study has a quantitative approach, descriptive scope, non-experimental design, and cross-sectional. Included 80 students of Nutrition and Dietetics career. Data were collected with Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ), Adult Manifest Anxiety Scale (AMAS-A) and a sociodemographic form. Results shows a high rate of body dissatisfaction and clinically significant anxiety levels in 35% of participants. In conclusion, body dissatisfaction requires attention in public health, because it is a potential cause of eating and mental disorders.
