(2016) García Pesántez, Gabriela Rosana; González Terán, Mauricio Xavier; Kennedy Troya, Alexandra
The use of historical photography as a testimonial visual tool in historical subjects has been regarded as a secondary element. Architects, historians, researchers and others have used it in a provisional plane function, used for illustration or complementation of literary documents, which have made them lose their prominence. Therefore this research aims to corroborate that historical images are an indispensable tool for the reconstruction of heritage values and historical memory of a community, being eyewitnesses of past realities. They work as a tool because through it you can recognize different values to recover, conserve or maintain heritage, it helps as a supplement of historical information in a more agile way with which you can build part of history, apprehending heritage values and highlight the testimonial power that have images. This paper will address the potential of photographs by contemporary theories of asset valuation, preparing a catalog raisonné for a re- assessment heritage buildings and urban sections of the sector El Barranco in Cuenca city.

Fotografía histórica, herramienta para la valoración del patrimonio. Caso de estudio: El Ejido (primera mitad del SXX Cuenca – Ecuador
(2018) Chávez Brito, Paola Gabriela; Kennedy Troya, Alexandra
In our country, the photography as a source of historical documentation has not been officially recognized. Consequently, this tool is not considered of great importance when research work starts, it becomes a simple illustration. Frequently, readers and researchers do not analyze this tool, as a result, they lose significant information that an image could provide. The present research work is intended to demonstrate the importance of historical photography for the reconstruction of the urban and architectural history of the El Ejido area in Cuenca. This will be achieved by using a photographic reasoned catalog of the Solano and 12 of April Avenues, which are the main arterial roads in the city. They are the key elements for a better understanding of modernity as an articulating axis of the process of expansion. It is also intended to preserve and evaluate certain areas of the city, not only by the architects, but also by the population in general. Additionally, a guide will be provided with the parameters required for reading the photographs.

El patrimonio cultural inmaterial y su relación con el patrimonio edificado: caso Cuenca - Ecuador
(2015) Méndez Villavicencio, Diana Marcela; Kennedy Troya, Alexandra
The non-physical values, culturally known as immaterial values, which are still present by means of expressions, uses, customs, traditions, etc., not only in the Historical Center, but also all along the city; should be considered with a particular importance when performing interventions on a cultural asset. This degree project tries to prove the following hypothesis: the conservation of the immovable he¬ritage of a historical downtown is strongly conditioned to the conservation of its immaterial cultural heritage, thus establishing the indissoluble relation between the Immaterial Heritage and the Immo¬vable Heritage (built-up). Also, defining their interdependence in this process; both in its image as well as in its integral conservation. Therefore, this research work demonstrates that the conservation of an immovable asset is directly and necessarily related to the conservation of its immaterial values. This purpose studies the concrete cases of the San Roque Church and the Sucre Plaza which are located in the city of Cuenca.
