    Caracteristicas del cáncer dermatológico diagnosticado en biopsias de piel por el laboratorio de anatomía patológica del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso en el periodo junio 2011 – junio 2013

    Introduction: The dermatological cancer is the most common our society, the correct diagnosis and treatment are critical in their impact within the patient's prognosis. In Ecuador, its geographical position, this cancer has a special connotation, by exposure to ultraviolet light, which is the most important for the genesis of this disease risk factor. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional biopsies of skin samples processed by the Laboratory of Pathology of the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso in the period June 2011 to June 2013 was performed. The inclusion criterion was the malignancy of the samples regardless of their stadium. Results: The total sample was 401 of which 63.3 % (254) for females (147) were men. The percentage of malignancy reported is 29.4 %, of which 50 % is basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma 28.6 % and 15.8 % melanomas. The localization of malignant lesions, 59.3 % are in the face, 20.3 % in lower limbs, trunk 12.7%, 4.2 % lead and 3.4% in the upper limbs. Conclusions: dermatologic cancer is present in the third of the skin samples processed. 2-1 relationship between women and men was found. The age at which most occurs is between 65 and 84 years, the lesions are located mostly on the face, in two of the three cancers , melanoma is the most aggressive type is commonly found in the lower limbs.
