    Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas en enteroparasitosis en internas del centro de privación de libertad femenino de Cuenca, 2013-2014: aplicar una propuesta de intervención educativa

    Background: Intestinal parasitic infections are usually caused by protozoa and helminthes, affecting more than 2 billion of the world population, are a public health problem, being an indicator of underdevelopment, their main means of spread anus - hand-mouth cycle; for this reason a type intervention study to determine the frequency of intestinal parasites in the Center Deprivation of Liberty Women's of Cuenca and the educational intervention through primary prevention was conducted. Objectives: To determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices of intestinal parasites in the Center Deprivation of Liberty Women's of Cuenca. Develop an educational proposal in primary prevention of intestinal parasites Methods: This was a studio intervention, which consist of a universe comprised of 90 women aged 18 to 65 years. Before the educational intervention was applied a pretest and a stool sample was collected for examination of stool, positive cases were treated with secnidazol, after the preventive educational intervention, a posttest was applied and a new examination of stools was performed. The information obtained was analyzed using SPSS and Excel. The data are presented in tables with averages and percentages. Results: The prevalence of parasitism was 24.4%, 50% of cases intestinal parasites treatment, the Ameba histolytica. The mean pretest note was 16.33/ 21. After the educational intervention, the prevalence decreased to 4.5 % and the average note posttest was 18.86/21. Conclusions: After the educational intervention decreased the prevalence of intestinal parasites and improved the level of knowledge, attitudes and practices.
