Item Calidad de vida de pacientes con tratamiento antituberculoso bajo estrategia, de las áreas de salud No. 1, No. 2 y No. 4 Cuenca 2004(2004) Jaramillo Monge, Loria Tamara; Serrano Serrano, Janeth Catalina; Jaramillo Monge, Julio Cesar; Andino Vélez, José Gerardo; Mosquera Vallejo, Lorena ElizabethIn order to describe the quality of life of patients in TB treatment under the DOTS strategy, considering the influence of the disease on the physical, emotional and social aspects. METHOD: by interviewing each patient, a form of questions when they went to the clinic to receive the medication was applied. The form was developed based on the "Description Tool-Related Quality of Life Health for pulmonary tuberculosis patient" developed by the staff of "Pedro Kuori" Institute of Havana, Cuba, 2002. RESULTS: Most patients had no physical discomfort after starting treatment (56 cough, chest pain 61, 88 fever, overall malaise 64sudoración 88), and the few who had, they did not affect to a significant extent the performance of their daily activities. Despite the concern prompted by his illness and sadness in this case 66de, 61de patients were not rejected by their patients, friends or colleagues. On the social side, the limitation was observed for work activities or motivated by the disease (57), stay at home (63) difficulties in community involvement, sport or recreation study (45), decrease or cessation telephone conversation with family and friends (61) and decreased frequency of family visits (61) and decreased frequency of family visits (41) and friends and family. CONCLUSION: The physical improvement that occurs in patients contrasts with the emotional and social deterioration of the patient's life.
