Development of a boost power factor correction converter with 95% efficiency
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2018) Guillen Montenegro, Luis Eduardo; Jaramillo Ayavaca, Wilson Xavier; Gonzalez Morales, Luis Gerardo; Guillen Montenegro, Luis Eduardo
This work presents the design and construction of a Boost Power Factor Correction (PFC) Converter that reduced Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the input current waveform from a Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS), synchronized the input voltage and input current waveforms such that the Power Factor (PF) delivered to the mains was corrected almost to unity. This device is a power converter of size 14.2x16.3x17cm, that uses isolation elements for reducing common and differential noise, the PFC ICE3PCS01, driver 1EDI60N12AF and the CoolMOS IPZ65R045C7. The converter supplied a 1.2 kW nominal power to a resistive load and achieved 95% of efficiency for a 122 Vrms input voltage.

Diseño y construcción de un convertidor de potencia AC/DC-DC/DC para la correción de factor de potencia
(2017) Guillén Montenegro, Luis Eduardo; Jaramillo Ayavaca, Wilson Xavier; Gonzalez Morales, Luis Gerardo
This work comprehends the design and construction of an AC/DC-DC/DC Power Converter that allows the THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) reduction of the current waveform given from the electric mains, the synchronization of the voltage and current waveforms such that the PF (Power Factor) delivered to the mains is corrected to a value greater than 80%. To achieve this it is necessary to have Power Electronics knowledge, in which different class converters, topologies, electronic devices analysis and functioning characteristics are presented in order to get a holistic comprehension of the problem and the development of a solution on each of its stages. The proposed device in this work is a power converter of size 14.2x16.3x17 cm, with a Boost topology that uses isolation elements for common and differential noise in the converter, also a PFC-ICE3PCS01 (Power Factor Correction), Driver-1EDI60N12AF and the Mosfet-IPZ65R045C7, very flexible and with high operative quality. The combination of these and other elements, comprehend a 1.2kW nominal power (to a resistive load) converter, with a time gap of 204μs and THD_i of 3.66%, achieving a 99.6% of PF and 95% on efficiency (η) for a 122V_rms voltage input.

RR stress test time series classification using neural networks
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2018) Jaramillo Ayavaca, Wilson Xavier; Astudillo Salinas, Darwin Fabián; Solano Quinde, Lizandro Damián; Palacio Baus, Kenneth Samuel; Wong de balzan , Sara Null; Solano Quinde, Lizandro Damián
The RR time series, obtained from the R waves of the ECG, are a representation of the heart rate. This work presents the use of an artificial neural network (ANN) to classify RR time series from an ECG stress test. Four classes of RR time series were defined very good, good, low quality and useless. We use a preprocessing stage to split input data vectors into N W data windows for which we compute the standard deviation of the RR interval (SD RR ) to generate the input features vector of a multilayer perceptron network architecture. We introduce a saturation value S in order to limit SD RR values. 520 RR time series from 65 records of ECG stress test were analyzed. Experiments were performed to explore the influence of parameters S and N W . 40 subjects records are used in training and the remaining for testing. The classification results show a matching correlation ratio above 71%, which is higher than the …
