    Perfil lipídico en deportistas de 14 – 18 años de la Federación Deportiva del Cañar, 2017

    BACKGROUND: Alterations in lipid profile are present in the population in general, including in teenagers, these plasmatic values result from complex metabolic processes that are under the control of influences or genetic and environmental factors. OBJECTIVE: To determine the parameters of lipid profile in athletes from 14 to 18 years of the Sports Federation of Cañar 2017. METHODOLOGY: A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out on all athletes from 14 to 18 years of the Cañar Sports Federation, the universe was 180 athletes, it wasn´t necessary to calculate the sample, because the Sports Federation of Cañar suggested that it be carried out in its entirety, the research project was presented who participated freely and voluntarily signing the respective assent and informed consent. The sample was taken in venous blood taken in fasting from 8 to 12 hours. For the analysis of the results, SPSS software version 15 of free configuration in Spanish and Microsoft Excel 2013 was used, presented in tables and graphs with their respective analyzes. RESULTS: 69.4% of the athletes are men, the majority are 14 years old (38.9%). 92.2% have total cholesterol in ideal values, 88.3% of HDL within normal values, LDL with 90.6% have normal reference values and triglycerides with 96.1% with optimal values. 57.2% of athletes train two hours a day, followed by one hour with 38.3%. CONCLUSIONS: The values of total cholesterol were determined in great majority with more than 92% in ideal, while HDL Cholesterol has a normal risk of 59% and lower 29%; LDL Cholesterol is normal in most athletes
