Item Factores de riesgo asociados a malformaciones congénitas de los recién nacidos del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso en la ciudad de Cuenca en el período 2004-2005(2005) Durán Ochoa, Andrea Gabriela; Illescas Mogrovejo, Lucy Magali; León Vélez, Andrea Alexandra; Martínez Sotomayor, Andrea Alexandra; Huiracocha Tutivén, María de LourdesThis research is an analytical study of cases and controls. 76 patients were reviewed in two samples: 38 cases and 38 controls. The data obtained were analyzed by frequency, Odds Ratio and Chi2. Assessing the risks they were exposed mothers live and dead children with birth defects in the area of Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital "Vicente Corral Moscoso". The results were: congenital malformations in newborns presented more alive (94.70). The 60.53tuvo pattern and single and multiple 30.51para. The only major malformations with 26.32para and 73.68 for children; in the 30.51para multiple major and minor 69.49para. No statistical significance between group risk pregnancy and congenital malformation was found, but was determined to risk pregnancy I (low insertion level, primary level education, urban residence of mother, primipara, multipara) is risky: primary level instruction with a risk ratio of 1.95 and 5.85 Chi2, aged mother with a risk ratio of 1.76 and Chi2 and low level of social integration in which the risk ratio is 2.11 and obtained by the Chi2 4.22. There are factors that are known causal association with malformations, but in this study it is not demonstrated by the sample size and study time. The relative incidence of specific risk factor for certain types of defect escapes the objectives of this studyPublication Factors associated with food insecurity in older adults in Ecuador(2022) Illescas Mogrovejo, Lucy Magali; Encalada Torres, Lorena Esperanza; Encalada Torres, Janneth Olivia; Abril Ulloa, Sandra VictoriaThe objective was to determine the relationship between various factors and food insecurity, using a cross-sectional analyti-cal study of 400 older adults living in rural and urban areas of the Azuay province in Southern Ecuador. Food security was measured using the Latin American and Caribbean Food Security Scale (ELCSA). The data was analyzed using version 15 of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) program, and the odds ratio with 95% confidence interval (CI) was used to determine statistical association. The incidence of food insecurity was higher in older adults who live in households comprised only of members above the age of 18 (43.7%) and in rural zones (65%). Food insecurity is high in older adults, especially in individuals who live in rural areas and who have low levels of education and low socioeconomic levels. It is necessary to implement public policy and preventative strategies to mitigate the risk of food insecurity in older adults.Item Factors associated with food insecurity in older adults, Ecuador(Universidad de Cuenca, 2022-08-03) Illescas Mogrovejo, Lucy Magali; Abril Ulloa, Sandra VictoriaThe object was to determine the relationship between various factors and food insecurity, with cross-sectional analytical study of 400 older adults living in rural and urban zones in the province of Azuay in southern Ecuador.
