(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-03-04) Illescas Mogrovejo, Christian David; Guzmán Jiménez, Alfonsina del Rocío
The research called "Study of family care for older adults with chronic diseases of the "My Golden Years" project in the Sayausí parish and its relationship with stress. Period September 2024 - February 2025." It was carried out because older adults are a vulnerable group and the aim was to find out the quality of care provided by the main caregivers, and also to investigate the levels of stress generated by carrying out said task. Regarding the methodology, the study is quantitative - descriptive with a non-experimental design. The universe subject to study corresponded to 24 families. To obtain data, the perceived stress scale instrument was applied and likewise a survey on the care provided to the older adult. In the present research, the following general objective was raised: To analyze the relationship that exists between perceived stress and family care for older adults with chronic diseases participating in the "My Golden Years" project. Among the collected results, it was found that 16 caregivers (66.7%) suffer from high stress, and 22 caregivers (91.7%) are women, however, 18 caregivers (75%) feel half capable due to a lack of education in geriatrics. The comparison between family care ñfor older adults with and without chronic diseases and the relationship with stress shows that there is a statistically significant concern, p value = 0.006 < 0.05, which shows that chronic diseases in older adults are a stress factor for caregivers.
