The present research is a descriptive study that aimed to analyze different programs and scientific articles on physical activity directed at developing strength and balance by means of a bibliographic review for the recommendation of its practice in the elderly. For this, a bibliographic review and a critical understanding of the most current state of the art on the subject was developed, the Scimago tool was used as a means of analysis, making use of review indicators such as: the rankin of the Best Magazines related to the subject of research, rankin from countries with the largest number of related journals, rankin from continents with publication media about medicine and physical activity and the relationship of publications in quartiles to the subject of analysis; In this context, the Scimago index made it possible to identify that there is enough information in relation to the subject around the world and the main studies with the largest publication media in quartile 1 regarding the SJR measurement. As a result, the types of exercises for the elderly were determined, which were divided into four groups: resistance exercises, muscle-strengthening exercises, balance exercises; and, elasticity exercises, with established times of 30 minutes minimum and 60 minutes maximum with a periodicity of three days a week.
