Item Conocimientos y actitudes relacionadas a la reanimación cardiopulmonar en internos de medicina de la cohorte septiembre 2023 - agosto 2024 en el Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Cuenca. Azuay(Universidad de Cuenca, 2025-07-23) Cabrera Loayza, William Javier; Illescas Campoverde, Juan Diego; Tenezaca Tacuri, Ángel HipólitoBackground: Cardiopulmonary arrest (CPA) is a medical emergency with an incidence of 500,000 cases per year in the U.S., which can lead to death if not treated promptly. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is crucial to reverse this event, but previous studies invarious locations, including Nicaragua and Ecuador, have revealed deficiencies in CPR knowledge in 49% of the staff, yet a positive attitude in 83.7% of medical professionals. General Objective: To determine the knowledge and attitudes towards CPR among rotating medical interns of the September 2023 - August 2024 cohort at Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Cuenca, Azuay. Methods: A descriptive, prospective design was used, with a universe of 109 medical interns. An adapted and validated questionnaire was applied to assess knowledge and attitudes about CPR. Data were collected in a structured form, validated by experts, after conducting a pilot plan, and were statistically analyzed. Results: 94.5% of the interns have medium and low levels of CPR knowledge, with similar levels between men and women. It was found that 71.6% of the interns perceive themselves to have a sufficient attitude when facing a situation requiring CPR. Only 46.8% of the participants report being accredited to perform CPR, while 88.1% are trained. Conclusions: The majority of interns have medium and low knowledge about CPR; nevertheless, most have a positive attitude towards the subject, which is a good indicator for future educational interventions.
