Item Avances tecnológicos y periodísticos en la cobertura de los Mundiales de Fútbol desde el inicio del Siglo XXI(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-09-11) Berrezueta Moscoso, Juan Diego; Idrovo Ullauri, Paolo Mateo; Beltrán Romero, Juan FranciscoThis research sought to understand how the constant innovation of technologies revolutionized the journalistic coverage of the World Cup. Since the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan, there has been a growing trend among journalists to adapt their working methods to the benefits of technological innovations, such as the possibility of live transmissions in real time. Social networks such as X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and Facebook play a crucial role as platforms for disseminating information. This research work also addresses how technology facilitated journalistic work in World Cups, with technological tools, such as Big Data, which allow for deeper and more detailed analysis, based on statistics and abundant data, as occurred in Qatar 2022. In-depth interviews with sports journalists allowed us to discover how they adapted to the technological evolution and the growing impact of social networks in their daily work, making it even more efficient in the case of World Cups in the face of increasingly demanding audiences. In order to contextualize and understand its social impact, emphasis was placed on the history and transcendence of World Cups, with emphasis on those of the 21st century.
