(Universidad de Cuenca, 2024-07-29) Carabajo Sarmiento, Jonnathan Andrés; Idrovo Sanango, Jennyfer Yadira; Sánchez Loja, Wilson Fernando
Currently, migration has a social, political and economic origin, which is associated with the economic crisis, lack of employment sources, governmental deficiencies or a strong desire to achieve a better lifestyle, causing various consequences to adolescents who remain in the countries of origin. The research entitled "Perception about the Causes and Consequences of Migration, in First, Second and Third High School Students of the Camilo Gallegos Domínguez Educational Unit, Biblián canton, Cañar province, December 2023 March 2024", had the objective of determining the perception about the causes and consequences of migration, in High School Students of an Educational Unit of Biblián canton, Cañar province, December 2023 March 2024. A qualitative methodology was applied, with descriptive scope and phenomenological design. Twelve adolescents participated in an in-depth interview, and the Atlas Ti program was used for the respective analysis. The results determined that economic, personal, socio/cultural and political factors are causal to migration, while the consequences can be both positive and negative, highlighting mainly economic, educational, affective, communication, family configuration/roles, substance use and academic performance. The conclusion is that both causes and consequences may present great variability, due to social/cultural or developmental factors.
