    Estudio de la prevalencia de dismenorrea en las facultades de la Universidad de Cuenca año lectivo 1993-1994

    This research is aimed at determining the prevalence of dysmenorrhea in the faculties of the University of Cuenca, the sample consisted of 1142 students and was conducted during 1993-1994 with the following results. The greater frequency of occurrence of menstruation was at the age of 13 years with an average duration of four days for the occurrence of dysmenorrhea as often is between 13-15 years of age, with severe pain in the prevailing 19.8% and appearing on the first day of menstruation. As for treatment, we can say that most self health and a low percentage receives medical prescription. It is the most used drug Ponstan (mefenamic acid), showing a majority of symptoms in 88% of surveyed women with dysmenorrhea. It is also common in our environment using aromatic waters. Finally we write down on absenteeism being 22.9% for one day in 89.1%
