Pruebas de funcionamiento hepático. Dosificación de sacarosa y lactosa
(Universidad de Cuenca, 1979-11-11) Hermida C., Patricia; Pacheco C., Fanny; Alvarez Herrera, María Hermelinda; Cañizares, Ernesto
No matter how extensive and far-reaching medical research may be, there will always be fields—and within them, specific topics—that, due to their seeming insignificance or lack of importance, have remained static and unexplored. Such is the case with the subject of this research, which has not been previously addressed in our context and which we now present: sucrose and lactose tolerance. With this topic, our goal and aspiration is to contribute our small effort to the advancement of research, hoping it will be of use to our fellow students who follow us in their studies and training, as well as to teachers and professors as a didactic complement to their dedicated work in the study of carbohydrates. Proper importance must be given to nutrition within our environment, where the diet is largely based on natural sources such as fruits, milk, etc. The glucose tolerance test is considered one of the liver’s functional assessments, since when there is liver disease, blood glucose levels show significant variations in one direction or another. The initial rise in blood glucose is due to the influx of glucose absorbed in the intestine, which exceeds the tissues’ capacity to store it in the form of glycogen.
