Since 1991, Ecuadorian products have benefited from the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), a scheme which grants preferential access to the market counterparty counternarcotics and commitment to strengthening democracy in the participating countries. However, from 2005 this system had a significant evolution (GSP +), extending the benefits and coverage classified as "vulnerable" which came in higher growth in purchases of Ecuadorian products from EU countries, making the country the main beneficiary of this preferential scheme.
