The World Health Organization considers antimicrobial resistance as one of the top 10 major issues facing public health. Understanding the level of knowledge and intervening through an educational program contributes to the fight against antimicrobial resistance. Objective: To determine the impact of an educational program on the level of knowledge about antimicrobial resistance among third-year high school students from private schools in the city of Cuenca. Materials and methods: A quasi-experimental pre- and post-intervention uncontrolled study was conducted in which a questionnaire was administered before and after an educational program. The educational intervention consisted of theoretical-practical sessions conducted in person. The sample consisted of 360 students, and statistical analysis was performed using the free versión of the PSPP 1.6.1 program, and inferential analysis employed the Wilcoxon test. Results: When comparing the average scores obtained in the pre- and post-intervention evaluations, an increase of 4.03 points in the overall average grades was demonstrated. A significance of p=0.000 (p<0.05) was obtained, establishing that the difference in averages is statistically significant. Conclusions: It is concluded that the educational program had a positive impact on the level of knowledge about antimicrobial resistance.
