Depression is a mental disorder characterized by a low mood and a persistent feeling of sadness that makes it difficult for people to function adequately in their daily lives. The study focuses on the university population, since exposure to different environments, academic challenges, and changes in their lives can affect their mental health with a high risk of suffering from mental disorders. The main objective of this research was to describe depression in students of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Cuenca, and as specific objectives, to analyze the levels of depression according to sociodemographic and academic variables. The study had a quantitative research approach of non-experimental, cross-sectional and descriptive scope. The instruments used were the beck depression inventory (BDI-II) in its Colombian validation for university students by Maldonado et al. (2021). The results show that 59.1% of the participants do not present depressive symptoms, while 40.9% present some degree of depression. A higher prevalence of depressive symptoms was identified in women, fifth-cycle students, and those who attend morning classes. It is concluded that, although the majority of students do not suffer from depression, a significant percentage require attention. These findings underline the need to strengthen prevention and psychological support strategies in the university setting, with special emphasis on the most vulnerable groups.

The high migration of Ecuadorians generates several consequences, being a priority for this research the increased responsibility that falls on the woman who remains in the country of origin. Therefore, from a psychosocial approach, we sought to describe the emotional exhaustion of women in the community of Guablincay based on their experiences during the migration of their partner during the COVID-19 pandemic. For this study, a methodology with a qualitative approach was implemented, under a phenomenological perspective, with a cross-sectional design and an exploratory-descriptive scope, since the aim was not to measure variables but to understand the reality of the women's situation. Regarding the methods, the semi-structured interview and non-participant observation were used as data collection techniques and an interview guide and an observation questionnaire as tools to analyze and systematize the information provided, which were applied to five women belonging to the Guablincay Community who formed the study group and were selected on the basis of the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the research indicate that the women in the study are going through a process of adaptation to a new reality when they become and identify themselves as heads of household after their partner's migration. They identify feelings of loneliness, sadness, indignation and exhaustion, as well as excessive fatigue and, in some cases, the desire to give up responsibilities. The household faces processes of restructuring and change of roles, influenced by contextual and cultural factors, which give way to the formation of transnational families and support networks.

Studies on gender-based violence have made it possible to clarify the causes and consequences that this problem has had throughout the world at the individual, family and social levels. It is for this reason that strategies for counseling, prevention, protection and care have been developed. However, the need to explore social mechanisms that contribute to the development of resilient capacities has been acknowledged. The very same women who show how some women, despite the fact that gender-based violence affects their physical and psychological health, succeed in overcoming this situation and moving on with their life in a positive way. Resilience is an intrinsic capacity of human beings, dynamic and a key factor for individual, association and community empowerment. Therefore, the overall objective of this research was to describe the impact of social capacities of community resilience on woman victims of gender-based violence. To this end, a qualitative approach methodology was applied, under a phenomenological perspective, with a cross-sectional design and an exploratorydescriptive scope. The in-depth interview was used as a technique to collect information. The Same was applied to 6 female participants of the Community Rounds project who made up the research group, selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Finally, the results of the study showed that women go through a process of transformation and processing in which the period of time passed between the violent incident that they consider to be the most significant, and the contextual and cultural factors of their environment, and education for the recognition of their individual rights and strengths play a role. Finally, there is a lack of support from the community and government institutions to handle the situation, yet the closest affective ties appear to be the most important motivating factors

The available literature on psychotherapeutic approaches to addressing depression symptoms in adolescents is limited. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is presented as a promising alternative, supported by solid therapeutic principles used in various mental health problems. To assess the effectiveness of ACT in reducing depressive symptoms in adolescents, a systematic review of empirical studies published in the last decade was conducted using the PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Taylor & Francis, and Springer databases. A total of 24 studies met the inclusion criteria. The results suggest that ACT could be an effective treatment option for depressive symptoms in adolescents. However, further research on interventions with similar characteristics is needed to confirm the findings.

In general, perceptions of the rural are built around adjectives such as backward, traditional, agricultural, rustic, wild, resistant to change, etc. According to this, it is assumed that sex education is constituted from stereotypes and taboos. Sexual assertiveness refers to the ability that people have to identify or have the initiative to have sex, reject unwanted encounters, negotiate the use of contraceptive methods, communicate desire, sexual satisfaction and sex life with the partner. In addition, it is considered a protection factor in situations of risk or sexual coercion, therefore, based on this premise, the research aims to understand the perceptions of sexual assertiveness in women from rural parishes in the Chordeleg canton from a gender perspective. The research design was qualitative with a phenomenological modality. Semi-structured individual interviews were applied to eight women from rural parishes of the Chordeleg canton during the framework of the health emergency due to COVID-19. Among the main results are: the scarce information on sexuality and contraceptive methods, as well as the sexual violence perceived by the participants. The main conclusion is that the rural context, through stereotypes, exercise of power and traditional gender roles, influences the way of living sexuality.

In Ecuador since 2015 there has been an important migratory wave caused by the humanitarian crisis in Latin America, causing the activation of measures by different national and international organisations that seek rights, as Agreda et al. (2021) refers, as a result of this, vacancies were opened for professionals in the area of human mobility, with implications of extensive workload and job instability, which could lead to job burnout characterised by emotional fatigue and burnout; this can be foreseen from the salutogenic approach. This qualitative study with a phenomenological design has a descriptive scope and was developed with the projects of the Autonomous Decentralised Municipal Government (GAD) of the canton of Cuenca, with the participation of the coordinators and working groups, who have worked for at least twelve months in direct contact with people in a situation of human mobility, with the aim of identifying the perceptions of care and self-care practices, both institutional and personal, of the project workers' teams; The aim was to describe them from a salutogenic approach in order to understand their effects on municipal workers. The information was obtained through semi-structured interviews and a focus group, where workers expressed the implementation of group support practices, mostly by self-management, however, they recognise symptoms of job burnout, burnout, empathy burnout and job depersonalisation as persistent situations in their work environment due to work overload and instability and the absence of spaces for decompression.

Depression is a mental disorder that, due to its prevalence and incidence, constitutes a public health problem; various research has shown that there are certain conditions of vulnerability for the presence of this disorder in the stage of adolescence, which is due to the fact that it is a transition stage from childhood to adulthood, and where the biopsychosocial changes that take place in it are evident, compared to other stages. Faced with this, it has been shown that having emotional intelligence reduces the risk of suffering from this type of disorder, acting as a protective agent. The overall objective of the research was to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and depression with the variables of age and sex among 11th- grade students at “Unidad Educativa Jadán-Gualaceo”. The method used in this study had a quantitative approach, non-experimental, cross-sectional design type, and a correlational scope; with the participation of 58 students; the instruments, Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS-S) were used to learn the scores of the dimensions of emotional intelligence and the Beck II Depression Inventory (BDI-II), to obtain the levels of depression. The results obtained were that adolescents show a tendency to low levels of depression, however, females have a slightly higher score than males; in emotional intelligence and its four dimensions, the evaluation of one ́s own emotions is the dimension that prevails in this population, in addition, men have higher scores in evaluation of their own emotions and use of emotions. In conclusion, there is a negative correlation between emotional intelligence and depression, therefore, the lower the emotional intelligence, the higher the level of depression.

The satisfaction with the body image is a theoretical construction that includes a perceptive, cognitive and an emotional component that carries social aspects as the relation with the environment and the development of social skills to achieve a social interaction. For that reason, the following hypothesis is proposed: if there is more satisfaction with the body image, there are higher levels of social skills. Consequently, the main target of this research is determining the relationship between the variables before mentioned in an adolescent population. To develop this research, it has used a quantitative approach with a non- experimental design and a correlational scope. The sample was 240 students at Benigno Malo High School that are 15 to 17 years old. The instruments applied were the “Escala de Habilidades Sociales de Gismero '' and the Stunkard silhouettes. The results showed 52% are satisfied with their body image, whereas 54% have low levels of social skills. Besides that, to carry out the correlation Spearman test was used with a p value of -.237 that represents a negative weak correlation between the variables. In conclusion, there is a relationship between satisfaction with body image and social skills, but it's almost null. That means when one variable increases the other one decreases.
