    Complicaciones durante el embarazo y parto en las pacientes obesas hospitalizadas en el servicio de obstetricia del Hospital "Vicente Corral Moscoso", Cuenca-Ecuador, 2010

    Introduction: The prevalence of obesity is increasing and is presented as an important negative factor for the economy and health development.The countries pregnancy is one of the most vulnerable stages of women's nutrition and obesity has been linked with many diseases during pregnancy and childbirth. Objective: - To determine the influence of obesity on pregnancy and delivery in patients hospitalized in the Obstetrics Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso of the city of Cuenca in 2010. Methodology: A cross sectional study in the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in 1110 1primero obese women from January to December 31, 2010. Data were collected using medical history forms for demographic data, as well as nutritional status was determined from the evaluation of weight / height index and the equivalent gestational age in the nomogram of the Ministry of Public Health, the factors risk were also determined through review of medical records of patients. Results: The most prevalent age group was between the 26-30 years with 29%, marital status was the most frequent with 60.1% married, 61% of the population resides in urban areas, the average weight was 77.07 kg with a DS of 8.06 and the mean height was 153.05 cm with a SD of 6.62 cm. The prevalence of gestational diabetes was 8.1%, 12.9% gestational hypertension, preeclampsia 13.7%, eclampsia 3%, 2% chronic hypertension, abortion 2.7%, 0.1% thromboembolic complications, chronic hypertension with superimposed preeclampsia 0.8%. Complications during delivery were: 18% preterm delivery, stillbirth 1.7%, 28.9% cesarean section, macrosomia 22.1%. Conclusions: The complications during pregnancy and at delivery are common in obese pregnant women.
