This is a neurotropic virus that can affect the nervous system in any of its sectors and at any stage of infection. Second-arily, the central nervous system may also be affected by opportunistic infections or neoplasias related to the de-gree of immunosuppression. The methodology used for this research work is part of a documentary bibliographic review. The data collection technique is made up of electronic materials, the latter such as Google Scholar, PubMed, among others, relying on the use of descriptors in health sciences or MESH terminology. The infor-mation obtained here will be reviewed for further analysis. Given the continuous decline of the immune system of HIV-infected patients, they will always be exposed to a high health risk, in regards to contracting other types of diseases such as cancer, chronic diseases, opportunistic diseases that affect the central nervous system. Objective: to determine the prevalence, characterization of sexting and its relationship with anxiety levels in students of the Medicine career of the University of Cuenca, year 2021-2022 Methodology: observational, transversal, analytical study, carried out in 302 forms of students from the first to the tenth semester of the Medicine career of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Cuenca. The "Alonso Network Sexting and Emerging Risks Questionnaire" and the Hamilton Anxiety Scale were used. The analysis used descriptive and correlational statistics. Results: the prevalence of sexting was 63.2%; 83.3% for passive and 77% for active sexting. 49.3% corresponded to the 20 to 32 years age range, 38.7% were female. The cell phone was the most used device in passive (99.4%) and active (100%) sexting. Text messages were the most used for sending (68.7%) and receiving (81.3%). WhatsApp was the most used social network for sending (66.9%) and receiving (61.22%) sexual content. There was no correlation between sexting and anxiety levels. Conclusions: a high prevalence of sexting was identified, with a predominance of passive sexting. The cell phone, text messages and WhatsApp network were the most used means; there was no relationship between sexting and anxiety levels
