Background: The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is an agent that can cause several types of cancers, mainly related to cervical cancer. The vaccine seeks to prevent these cancers; it is crucial to understand adherence and knowledge among adolescents to minimize the risk of not getting vaccinated. Objective: Determine the prevalence and knowledge of the Human Papillomavirus vaccine in adolescents aged 10 to 15 years from the “Luis Cordero Crespo” Educational Unit in the period 2023. Methods: a quantitative, descriptive and transversal investigation was carried. Universe and sample: the universe was made up of 410 female adolescents from 10 to 15 years old, the sample was made up of 205 participants. Techniques and instruments: A survey was used for all participants using the form used by Lema-Vera and validated by Medina-Fernández. For the statistical analysis of the variables of interest, Microsoft Excel programs and the SPSS statistical program were used for their corresponding tabulation and analysis of variables, frequencies, and percentages. Results: The sociodemographic characteristics: according to age; mean of 12.34 years, median of 12 years and a mode of 11 years was found. 71.2% of the population resides in urban areas. The prevalence of vaccination against the Human Papillomavirus was 97.1%. It was identified that 93.66% of students have a poor level of knowledge about the HPV vaccine. Conclusions: The prevalence of vaccination is high, while knowledge about it is deficient, without this interfering with them rejecting the vaccine
