    Medidas de bioseguridad en el programa ampliado de inmunizaciones aplicadas por el personal de enfermería en el Área de Salud nº 4 de la ciudad de Cuenca 2013 - 2014

    Biosecurity: The set of preventive rules to maintain control of risk factors from biological, physical and chemical agents, in order to decrease the chance of getting infections in the workplace, focusing on prevention, by aseptic . Objective: To determine the biosecurity measures in the Expanded Immunization Program implemented by the nursing staff in the Health Area No. 4 of the city of Cuenca. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional study, the study population being nurses, nursing assistants and internal working in the health Area No. 4; a sample of 28 workers was taken, the level of knowledge assessed by questionnaire and compliance with biosecurity measures as an observation guide. Results: The nursing staff working in the area of health N 4 in the area of vaccination had a higher level of knowledge (73.6%), both nurses, nursing assistants and internal. With regard to compliance with biosecurity measures could show that 71.1% biosecurity measures applied correctly, while 28% do not apply. Conclusions: With respect to nurses can conclude that mostly corresponds to a young group, with a time of less than two years work and high academic standards, as evidenced in the application forms of knowledge, as the application of biosecurity measures in the Expanded Immunization Program, through observation it was found that a significant percentage not correctly applied, there is no relationship between knowledge and application.
