    The work is descriptive, based on the high incidence and prevalence of HIV / AIDS around the world, considering that all countries currently investigating the fact that if the population knows or not about this disease, so somehow change its spread and high mortality. The universe of study were all high school students in the urban area of ​​Cuenca, being drawn 1044 of them to be surveyed, which were subjected to a questionnaire of open questions and then be qualified and evaluated impartially and get a statistic truthful, each question was worth 4 points and a total of 20 questionnaire. The results of the study are: all students have a poor understanding of the disease (in general), with respect to knowledge or not the concept of HIV / AIDS they scored a 0, ie no or poor, in the knowledge or the means of transmission of the disease they were rated 3, ie, a level well, and finally with respect to knowledge or how to prevent the disease scored a 2, that is to say, regular level
